Mystery/Thriller movies set in history?

so kinda like "sleepy hollow"...periodical, lil gory but not bad. i don't like the 'slice 'em & dice 'em' movies. more of the suspense/ mystery set in history..(ha, that rhymed!) lol...or like "bless the child" kinda on catholic side..so anyone know any good ones???
