Need MATLAB Code for Transfer Function Command?

I have the student version of the MATLAB software. It does not come with the build in function "tf" to calculate a transer function for a given num and den. I know the syntax is "sys=tf(num,den)... but when i input that code, MATLAB does not recognize it. Could someone who has the full version copy that function file here, or e-mail it to me? Thanks.
