Help Please!?

There is this girl that im friends with that i really like, but i dont know how to ask her out, im 17 years old and ive had my share GF's in my life and they werent ever really serious, this one is different, i really really like her but i dont know how to ask her because im not sure if she likes me, and if she doesnt like me then our friendship would be awkward, And I am a complete idiot when it comes to picking up on ques that she likes me. I dont want to lose her as a friend but at the same time a really want to become more than just a friend with her, what should i do?
