What philosophy should be adopted so that humans will respect and conserve the environment?

That is a really good question. Fear certainly doesn't work and using pure knowledge seems to go over just about everybody's head. First people need to learn to think independently, then perhaps they will reach these conclusions on their own. However, I don't think we have the luxury of time.
