Why does mitosis happen in the root of the cell? Detailed explanation please!?

the root, or the apical meristem is region of the plant responsible for primary growth..this is where most of the division happens...i guess this is an ideal place for division because it is protected by the plant and resources are abundant here...also as these cells divide, they move upward in the plant and differentiate.. you can imagine the plant growing upward because more and more of these cells are beng added to the stem..its kind of a visual thing
